Public Relations Plan

Two Media Exposure Ideas
1. Mental Health Campaign
2. Mental Health Service Expo

Although there are many ways that students can hear about services at CAPS, the most influential ways are through the media. Media has a way of grabbing the attention of college students, and it can shape their opinions on topics. In knowing this, CAPS and its marketing team can use this to their advantage. Two main media strategies that can be used to do this are a Mental health Campaign and a mental health resource expo.

"Media has a way of grabbing the attention of college students, and it can shape their opinions on topics."

Include pictures/videos relating to your public relations plan - remember to caption them with relevant text to provide relevant context for your audience

This mental health campaign can use a catchy slogan for the campaign. Since the term: mental health” does have a negative stigma, perhaps “wellness is within reach” will suffice! With this slogan. Posters can be created, emails should be sent out to students and staff, and t-shirts can be handed out on campus. The posters and emails should have a very clear link and QR code to the CAPS website. The T-shirts should have a link on the back and a CAPS logo on it. The marketing team can reach out to students involved with CAPS and encourage them to post on social media to encourage their peers to get involved with these services.

Another marketing strategy that uses media exposure is a wellness expo. This expo can have a panel of staff or students willing to share their mental health journeys. This panel will consist of those who have had a positive experience with CAPS. Each panelist will be given a social media image that they can use to encourage members of their community to come to watch them speak. Although this will be mainly for students and staff, outside members knowing that this expo is going on can be great for networking and can lead to grants for our CAPS program.

Media exposure is the quickest way to encourage students to use the CAPS services. By hosting a “Wellness is Within Reach” campaign and by hosting a mental health expo, students will be exposed to the many resources they have for their mental health needs.
